Welcome!

Hello and welcome to the new school year at Quartz Hill Elementary.  I am excited to begin our new adventure and am anxious to get to know all of my students as well as their families.

Our Class Pledge:

I pledge today to do my best in reading, math and all the rest.  I promise to obey the rules in my class and in our school.  I'll respect myself and others too.  I'll expect the best in all I do.  I am here to learn all I can, to try my best and be all that I am.

A Little About Me

I am thrilled to introduce myself, Ms. Jennifer Shearer, as your child's third grade teacher.  I am extremely excited to be a part of your child's education and everyday life here at Quartz Hill.  Your child will soon find out I have a love and passion for learning and teaching.  My goal is to impart my sense of wonder in your child, providing them with a safe learning environment that is supportive and respectful.

I originally grew up in Seattle, Washington, but moved with my parents to Arizona in 1999.  I have two older brothers and one older sister, leaving me the youngest of four.  I received my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Arizona State University (Go Devils!). Outside of teaching, I enjoy riding and competing nationally with my horses, yoga, hiking, watching football, especially the Seahawks and indulging myself in a good book.  This is my fourth full year teaching in the Gilbert School District, and my 6th year working with young children.

I am looking forward to getting to know both you and your child.  Good communication between parent, teacher, and child is very important for your child's academic growth.  I invite you to visit our class a frequently as you may choose.  I hope we can develop a strong parent-teacher relationship and share your child's success throughout the school year.  The best way we can ensure the success of your child is to work together and communicate often.
